monosynth in flex
After writing an article for FlashBrighton about audio and Flash, I spent a while messing around with audio synthesis in Flash. The project has become a modular, xml powered synth engine, but has lost quite a lot of momentum recently. So instead of a grand launch, I’m going to release in bits and bobs, going back over early wins on the project. Here’s a Flex prototype that I wrote not long after releasing the initial article over a year ago.
There’s an anticipated upgrade of the Flash audio engine that is necessary to bring in multitrack audio from the new codecs that Adobe are introducing. I’m rather hoping to see something exciting to dig into… It might get me back into this project.
In the mean time, enjoy playing.
Keys: The keyboard is mapped into two rows of piano keys on a UK keyboard, so the number row is the high black keys, the qwerty row, white keys, and the same for the lower two rows. You’ll need to click on the synth, so that it can receive keystrokes
Apologies to those with strange/foreign keyboards!
